Fort Napoleon
Step back in time at the impressive Fort Napoleon in Ostend. Built in 1811 by order of Napoleon Bonaparte to defend against a potential British attack—though that attack never came.
The fort was given a different purpose: first as a weapons depot and military quarters, and later it also played a role during both World Wars. Today, you can walk through centuries of history and discover how the fort continuously found its place in turbulent times.
